Dula

Being in shape is already one of the most challenging commitments a person can make. Before you even get to the workout itself, you have to first win the mental battle — getting up when you don't feel like it, lacing up when your body says no, and choosing movement over comfort day after day. That alone is a full-time job. But now — I want you to stack pregnancy on top of that. Or a brand new baby. Or the long, quiet, often unspoken aftermath of a body that went through one of the most seismic physical experiences a human being can have. Because here is the truth that most fitness content doesn't say out loud: pregnancy is the single biggest game changer your body will ever face.
It doesn't matter if you had a flat stomach, a tight waist, and a consistent routine before. The moment you begin growing life, your body surrenders itself entirely — and eating for two, sleeping for two, and healing for two takes a toll that many women never fully recover from. What makes it even harder is that the physical changes often take the mental drive right along with them. The appetite to get it back gets buried under exhaustion, postpartum emotions, and a world that moves too fast to wait for you to find your footing again.
If any of that hits close to home — if that was you, is you, or might be you someday — I am here to tell you there is hope. And this week's Fit-Venture brought me face to face with one of the most powerful resources I have come across for women in general, and specifically for pre and postpartum women who are ready to find a helping hand. Not just getting their body back — but their sanity, their confidence, their joy, their sexuality. All of it. The Hula Dula has something specifically designed for you.

Treneice Bailey
Hula Goddess • Perinatal Services Guru • Kandi Bedroom Consultant • Body ShaperA mother of two who turned her own real-world struggles into a lifeline for thousands of women. She didn't just find the solution for herself — she went out and told the whole world about it.
Let me introduce you to Miss Treneice Bailey. Hula goddess. Perinatal services guru. And honey — a Kandi bedroom consultant too, because she is committed to restoring the whole woman, not just the waistline. This woman has dedicated her life to helping mothers get back up and get moving, and she did it the right way: she didn't take the conventional route of simply becoming a trainer and reciting textbook fitness advice. She took her real-world experience, her real-world struggles, and after finding the solution for herself, she went out and shared it with the world. That is a different level of calling entirely.
As a mother of two herself, Treneice has lived through the physical and emotional stages that come with motherhood — pre and postpartum challenges included. She has seen firsthand what those seasons of life can do to your body and your mind. And instead of keeping the solutions private, she turned her testimony into a toolkit and handed it to every woman who needed it. That is not a fitness instructor. That is a movement.
"Miss Treneice didn't build a program from a textbook. She built it from her life. And when you meet her and feel the energy she brings to that park, you understand immediately — this woman is not just teaching. She is testifying."
Appropriately nicknamed the Hula Fit Chic, Treneice offers hula hoop fitness classes using next-generation weighted smart hoops that run laps around the old hollow plastic tubes we all remember from childhood. And she doesn't do it from a studio — she takes it outside, into the community, into the parks, into the open air where real women gather and real healing begins. My son and I popped in on her this past weekend at Rose Park in Mansfield, Texas, where Treneice hosts the DFW Black Moms Walking Association's Mansfield location — a gathering space where mothers of all stages come to get active, network, connect with impactful women, and build something together. These women come together at least once a month across multiple DFW locations, and what Treneice has built at the Mansfield stop is something truly special.
Before we even get into the workout itself, I need to stop and give the equipment its full moment — because I was not prepared for what I experienced when I picked up one of these new-age smart hula hoops. Now, I want you to know, I was a hula hoop pro back in the day. I had the rhythm, the timing, the whole thing. So I stepped up with full confidence. And then I actually used one of these — and let me tell you, my entire childhood just got outclassed.
Smart Weighted Infinity Hula Hoop
Buy Now & Save- Adjustable assembled track — connects and sizes to fit your exact waist, no guessing
- Roller-weighted gravity ball — zooms around your waist continuously once you set it in motion, stays close to your hips so it doesn't drop
- Increaseable weight — customize the intensity as you get stronger and progress your fitness
- Built-in smart counter — tracks your spins, calories burned, and time so you always know exactly where you stand
- Never-drop design — no more bending down, picking it up, and starting over every 10 seconds like the old days
- Quiet, smooth rotation — watch TV, listen to music, or take it to the park without disturbing a soul
These things are a completely different universe from what we grew up with. The track is assembled in adjustable sections that lock together and hug your waist perfectly. The weighted roller attachment circles your midsection continuously from the momentum you create — and once it gets going, it stays going. No stopping to start over. No picking anything up off the ground. Just smooth, continuous, calorie-burning motion. You can increase the weight as you get stronger, and the built-in counter keeps real-time tabs on your spins, your calories, and your time. It is a perfect piece of fitness equipment — and you absolutely need to get your hands on one.
Let me give you a little bit of the science here — because when Treneice broke this down, even my son's jaw dropped. Hula hooping is not just a fun childhood activity dressed up as a workout. It is a legitimate cardio alternative that can replace your walk, your low-impact jog, or your stationary bike session almost exponentially — especially if your knees aren't cooperating, if the weather's not right, or if you simply cannot get outside for a full walk.
Five hundred swings equals one full mile. Whaaaat. I know. My son and I hit 500 rotations almost instantly — not because we were grinding through a brutal workout, but because we were having SO much fun with these hoops that we barely noticed the time passing. And boom — one mile down, roughly 100 calories gone, all while laughing and competing with each other in a park on a beautiful day. That is the magic of this workout. It doesn't feel like exercise. It feels like play. And that is exactly why people stick with it.
For a postpartum mom specifically, the benefits go even deeper. The continuous circular motion of the hoop actively improves your mood by triggering endorphins throughout your body. It helps tone and engage the midsection — the exact area that pregnancy stretches and changes the most — through consistent, low-impact movement that is safe, gradual, and effective. It is not a crash-and-burn intensity program. It is the kind of steady, joyful movement that builds a sustainable relationship between a healing body and an active lifestyle.
"We were laughing so hard at one point that we completely lost count. That's the thing about this workout — you stop thinking about the burn and start thinking about how much fun you're having. The calories don't care. They leave either way."
Now you know it is my absolute job as your Fit-Venturer to keep it completely real with you — because my goal is not to hype you into something that is not a good fit. My goal is to help you find your fit. So here is my honest assessment of the Hula Dula experience:
Deducted half a point on intensity only because this workout is best suited for lower-impact, gradual fitness goals. If muscle toning is your primary objective, pair this with a strength program — but for cardio, mood, and postpartum recovery? It is unmatched.
This class is absolutely amazing, fun, energetic, and accessible to everyone. It leans toward the lower-impact, calmer end of the fitness spectrum — and that is not a weakness, that is a feature. This workout was designed for the woman who needs a gentle, joyful, consistent on-ramp back into an active life. We definitely burned real calories. The session included a one-mile walk after the hooping portion that gave a clear, felt comparison between the two — and in total, across everything we did that morning, nearly three miles were knocked out. For a first-time participant, a recovering mom, or anyone who has been away from fitness for a season, that is a powerful, confidence-building win.
