Finding Your Fit: The Breakfast Club Review

As a fit mom on a mission to help my community and followers “Find Their Fit,” I make it my business to explore the best fitness options around the metroplex. Whether it’s a boutique gym, an outdoor boot camp, or a high-energy group class, I’m here to experience it firsthand and give you the real deal. This week, the buzz was all about “The Breakfast Club.” No, it’s not a trendy brunch spot. It’s a Saturday morning sweat session designed to get you moving before the day even really begins. I had to see for myself what all the hype was about!

This was actually my second attempt at attending the class. A few weeks prior, my son and I showed up ready to go, only to find out that the class had been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. But props to the trainer, Ryan Moore, who not only promptly refunded my money but also personally invited me to the next session. So, I gathered up my FITnomenal crew, and we headed out. Let me tell you, the Breakfast Club did not disappoint!

About Ryan Moore

Ryan Moore is a dedicated and inspiring fitness coach who has been in the game long enough to build an impressive arsenal of training techniques. Previously the owner of his own gym, he has now shifted his focus toward delivering top-tier training experiences through his fitness classes. Ryan’s approach blends longevity, mobility, and bootcamp-style training, ensuring his clients not only build strength but also sustain their fitness for the long haul. His passion and knowledge make him a standout in the Dallas fitness community.

What is the Breakfast Club?

The Breakfast Club Bootcamp is where sweat meets synergy, and every workout feels like a celebration of strength! Held twice a month, this high-energy bootcamp has been pushing limits and building a powerhouse community for the past three years. Each session kicks off with a dynamic warm-up and deep stretch, setting the tone for a powerhouse lineup of strength and endurance training.

Just when you think you’ve given it all, the intensity cranks up with competitive, relay-style conditioning drills that challenge both body and mind. Whether you’re a former athlete hungry for that team-like grind or a fitness enthusiast looking for a crew that keeps you accountable, this is the place to be. What started as a small gathering has exploded into a thriving squad of nearly 30 committed members every session—each bringing their own fire to the mix. The Breakfast Club Bootcamp isn’t just a workout; it’s an electrifying experience where fitness, fun, and camaraderie collide! 🔥💪

The Warm-Up & Initial Impressions

Walking into the session, we were greeted by a crowd of over 50 fitness enthusiasts, all fired up and ready to move. I’ve been to training sessions with fewer people and multiple coaches, but Ryan single-handedly commanded the space with confidence. And before we even broke a sweat, he set the tone by leading the class in a prayer. That moment alone told me this was more than just a workout—it was a community.

Now, onto our first critique. While Ryan’s intention was clearly to be organized, his method of separating participants by name slowed things down. It seemed like he was using this moment to confirm attendance, but this could have been handled at the door with a barcode scan or a more efficient check-in system. The time spent dividing the group drained the warm-up energy we had just built up. A simple solution? Separate participants by number or skill level and keep the momentum going.

The Space: Welcome to the Athletic Zone

The class was held at the legendary “Athletic Zone,” also known as Oak Fit, in the heart of Trinity Groves. This isn’t just a gym—it’s a training ground. With over 10,000 square feet of pure fitness, the space is decked out in all-black, featuring a full boxing ring, a heavy bag rig, rows of squat racks, and a newly added jiu-jitsu area. When you step inside, you know it’s time to put in work. Ryan and his Saturday class took center stage in this powerhouse facility, and the energy was contagious from the moment we walked in.

The Setup: An Area for Growth

Next came the station setup. Given the large group, it was a task to get everything arranged, and while Ryan did a solid job, there were ways to streamline this process. My suggestion? Assign some of these young capable men as quick fire assistants from within the group to assist with setting up. While equipment is being arranged, have the rest of the class engage in stretches on a timed countdown. This would ensure everyone stays engaged and properly warmed up—something we noticed was missing when one of our own crew members suffered calf cramps early in the session.

Similarly, the instructional period could have been made more interactive. Instead of explaining all stations in one long segment, Ryan could break it down station by station, keeping the crowd engaged by incorporating movement between explanations. A simple command-and-response system (like calling out “If you understand, say Yuuurrt!”) followed by a quick 10-rep exercise would ensure participants stay focused and ready.

The Workout: No Complaints Here!

Once we got into the actual workout, though, it was game on! The exercises were well-paced, challenging, and balanced with solid break periods. Ryan nailed this part—we had just enough time to catch our breath without losing our momentum.

What I really appreciated was Ryan’s presence. Despite being the only trainer in a group of 50, he moved throughout the room with ease, offering guidance, motivation, and answering questions without getting bogged down in the details. It’s not easy to command that large of a crowd solo, but he made it work.

The Fun Factor: Turning Workouts into Play

What set this class apart was how Ryan turned it into something more than just a workout—he made it fun. By incorporating a friendly competition among groups, he brought out that childhood “recess” spirit, making everyone push harder and engage more. And the way he had the class sit down upon completion was a smart touch that made tracking progress easy. These are the kinds of details that elevate a class from good to great!

The Sound Struggle

One small issue we encountered was hearing Ryan over the music. The space is large, and with a crowd this big, his voice sometimes got lost. A headset mic would go a long way in enhancing communication and professionalism. Alternatively, temporarily lowering the music during explanations would help ensure everyone catches every detail.

The Verdict!

Press to Reveal

Overall, Ryan’s Breakfast Club workout earned a solid 4.8 out of 5 in our book. The energy, the programming, and the motivation were all there. The only areas for improvement? A faster, more efficient check-in and setup process, structured warm-up stretches, and a better audio setup for clear instruction. Fix those minor details, and this class could be a 5-star experience all around. If you’re in Dallas and looking for a killer workout in a dynamic environment, give Ryan’s class a try. You won’t be disappointed!
