Pulled Up With No Plan… Left With a Full Body Burn  | Arlington FitVentures Recap

Intro: No Plan, No Problem — Just Pull Up and Get Active

And welcome to 2026 Fit Fam! I hope 2025’s New Year’s resolution hasn’t stopped 3 months into the year. But if it has… don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Life gets busy, motivation dips, schedules get packed, and before you know it, that “new year, new me” energy starts fading real quick. But guess what? That’s exactly why we do what we do.

Because even if you fell off… you can jump RIGHT back on.

And this week? I did exactly what any real FitVenturer would do. I woke up with absolutely no plan. No scheduled class, no gym session booked, no trainer lined up. Just vibes and a mission. I hopped on the streets (digitally and physically), checked event boards, scrolled through local fitness groups, and looked for something—anything—going on that Saturday morning.

And just like that… boom.

Right up the street, I found a down-home, grassroots, community-driven workout that checked all the boxes. No fancy gym, no membership, no barriers. Just people, energy, and a coach ready to get after it.

Let me tell you how this one unfolded.

The Venue: Vandergriff Park - Arlington’s Hidden Fitness Playground

This week’s FitVenture took us out to Vandergriff Park, and let me tell you—if you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out on one of Arlington’s most versatile outdoor spaces.

Now Arlington, Texas already has a reputation for having some of the best parks and recreation areas in the DFW. But Vandergriff? It’s a whole different vibe. This park is BIG. I’m talking wide open spaces, clean grounds, multiple activity zones, and enough room to host just about any type of workout you can think of.

You’ve got:

  • Swimming areas for those summer days
  • Tennis courts for the competitors
  • Skateboarding sections for the adrenaline crowd
  • Open fields perfect for sports, drills, and group workouts

But here’s the beauty of it all, FitFam… when it comes to fitness, you don’t need all that.

All you really need… is space.

And that’s exactly what Coach Dom capitalized on. No distractions, no limitations. Just open ground, fresh air, and a community ready to move. There’s something different about working out outside. The energy hits different. The air hits different. Even your mindset shifts a little bit.

You’re not boxed in. You’re free. And that freedom? It shows in your performance.

The Trainer: Coach Dom - Sweet Energy with a Competitive Edge

Now let’s talk about the star of the show… Coach Dom.

This week, I had the pleasure—no, let me rephrase that—the honor of running under the pressure of Coach Dom. And if you’ve ever had a coach that smiles while pushing you to your limits… then you know exactly what type of energy she brings.

Coach Dom stood right in the center of it all, surrounded by a full circuit of fitness enthusiasts. From beginners to more seasoned participants, she managed the entire group with precision, charisma, and just the right amount of intensity.

And let me tell you… when I say she was “rooting us on,” don’t get it twisted.

That “rooting” came with:

  • Direct commands
  • Loud, clear instructions
  • And yes… a BULLHORN HAHA

She made sure everybody heard her. No excuses. No confusion. You knew exactly what you were supposed to be doing at all times.

But here’s what made her special.

It wasn’t just the volume or the authority—it was the balance.

She had this light-hearted, almost playful approach that made you feel comfortable… but at the same time, she carried that old-school coach mentality. The kind of coach you had in high school that believed in you more than you believed in yourself.

The kind that pushes you just a little further than you planned to go. And that combination? That’s rare.

The Workout: Boot Camp, Burn, and a Whole Lot of Fun

Now let’s get into the WORK.

This wasn’t your typical “go at your own pace” park workout. Nah… this was a full-on boot camp station circuit, and Coach Dom came PREPARED.

We’re talking:

  • Squat thrusts
  • Suicide drills
  • Ball slams
  • Battle ropes
  • Agility movements
  • Strength intervals

And the crazy part? ALL of the equipment was hers.

She pulled up with her own gear, her own setup, and even had a tent stocked with refreshments and recovery essentials. That alone told me everything I needed to know.

This isn’t just something she does… this is something she CARES about.

Now I’m not even gonna lie to y’all… I came in a little late. And in my head, I was already preparing for that “fourth degree” lecture. You know the one… where the coach stops everything just to call you out.

But not Coach Dom.

She hit me with that spirit-led energy, smiled, and simply said, “Jump in right here.” No judgment. No pressure. Just inclusion. And from there? It was go time.

The structure of the workout was beautiful:

  1. Station-based boot camp circuit
  2. Three competitive relay races
  3. Group finisher that sealed the deal

Those relay races though?? Whew. That’s where the energy really turned up. You could feel the competitive spirit come alive. People who were just casually working out five minutes ago suddenly turned into athletes again 😂

And that final group finisher? Yeah… you felt that one all week

The Organizer: A Coach That Moves With the People

Here’s what I really respect about Coach Dom…

She’s not tied down to one location. She MOVES.

Just like us at iLivFIT, she pops up wherever the people are. One week it’s Arlington, next week it could be somewhere completely different. Parks, open spaces, community areas—it doesn’t matter.

She brings the workout TO the people.

This time, it was Vandergriff Park. But she’s also known to pop up at places like Central Park and other local areas where she can gather a group and get to work. And that’s what makes this whole pop-up fitness culture so powerful.

You’ve got groups all over the DFW doing their thing:

  • Local training communities
  • Youth-focused programs
  • Mind and body wellness circles

If you’re tapped into the right network, there’s ALWAYS something going on. And that’s exactly why we built iLivFIT.

If you want to stay in the loop on where the next pop-up is, who’s hosting, and what the vibe is gonna be… tap in with us at iLivFIT.com.

We’re your boots on the ground.
