It’s your boy, Tjuan — one half of the unstoppable, ever-traveling fitness duo of iLivFit! Usually, I’m rolling deep with my energetic, forever-young mom, as we tour the country hunting down the BEST fitness experiences and giving y’all the realest reviews. But this week’s FITventure? It was a solo mission. Mom was out doing her amazing super-mimi duties with my niece and nephew, so I hit the road alone to see what North Dallas had to offer — and boy, was I in for something special.


This Week’s FITventure: Flexy Fitness — Where Sexy Meets Strong

I headed into familiar territory — North Dallas, a place I’ve done business in before. There’s a certain vibe in this corridor that always feels like hustle meets heart, and this week’s gym spotlight was Flexy Fitness. The location itself had me tripping down memory lane, since I actually used to work with the building back in the day — but stepping into it now? Whole different world. A new energy. A new mission. A whole new tribe of women beasts getting built from the ground up!

Flexy Fitness has transformed this space into a secret training ground for women warriors — and I say “secret” only because the world doesn’t yet know the heat that’s being cooked up in there. But trust me, after this week? The secret’s out.


The Trainer: Phil Jackson — But Not THAT Phil Jackson

Now let’s talk about the man who’s behind the movement.

Ladies and gents, meet Phil Jackson — no, not the Zen Master who coached MJ and Kobe — I’m talking about the Phil Jackson from the block, the legend in the local basketball scene, who traded New York concrete jungle for Dallas grit and built Flexy Fitness from scratch. This Phil has a mission, a vision, and a voice that commands attention.

He’s got that cool, confident middle-aged energy — stout build, steady gaze, and the kind of leadership that doesn’t need to yell to be heard (but when he does yell, you better believe people listen). From the moment the class started and I heard him call out, “HARD WORK!”, and the entire room clapped back, “DEDICATION!”, I knew this wasn’t just another workout. It was a movement.

I was shook, not gonna lie — but quickly caught the vibe. This was church. This was community. This was strength in action.


Flexy Fitness — The Breakdown

So what is Flexy Fitness?

Well, imagine this — take the word “Sexy” and replace that “S” with “FL”… now you’ve got “Flexy.” Not just a name, it’s a whole lifestyle. This gym, perched on the top floor of a shopping center, is stacked with everything you need — weights, massage tables, yoga studios, Pilates, recovery services, and a tribe of women who are redefining what strength looks like.

What blew me away was how much weight training is integrated. A lot of places push cardio-heavy formats, but Flexy? They understand the power of weights for sculpting those curves, building confidence, and turning heads. I was next to women out here outworking me on sled pushes, sit-ups, weighted carries… and when I tried to take a breath mid-set? They called me out!

Respect. Major respect.


The Workout — Simplicity Meets Sweat

Let’s talk about the workout — because this one had my soul sweating.

It was a station-based setup, but don’t get it twisted — this wasn’t your average “hit-a-few-spots-and-chill” vibe. It was clean, efficient, and impactful. We kicked off with a big group warm-up — jumping jacks, high knees, arm circles, and some light LIIT to get the blood pumping.

Then came Phil’s masterclass in programming.

First key move: He didn’t let us cool down during instruction. “Jog in place, keep your body moving,” he said as he broke down each station.

Second key move: Between stations, he’d shout, “DROP AND GIVE ME 10!” A simple push-up burst — but it kept the heart rate up and energy flowing.

Third game-changer: DRY ERASE BOARDS. Yes, actual small boards placed at each station with the workout instructions written out. That little touch made a huge difference — no confusion, no guessing, just clarity. That’s leadership.

Each station was 2 rounds of 2 minutes — AMRAP style. As many reps as possible. The environment pushed me past my comfort zone. Normally, in a regular gym, you stop at 10 or 12 reps. Here? I was crushing past 20 just because the vibe was right and the energy was competitive.


Who’s Flexy Fitness For?

Here’s the deal — anybody can train here. They’ve got massage therapy, stretching sessions, yoga, even chill recovery-focused options. So if you’re a beginner or someone looking for a relaxed intro into movement, you’ll feel welcome.

But let’s keep it real: Flexy Fitness is built for the woman who wants to transform.

It’s for the woman who wants to feel good but also look strong. Who’s not afraid of weights, who’s tired of the same old treadmill cycle, and wants to sculpt, tone, and build a body that screams strength and confidence.

And fellas? leans in and whispers — If you’re looking to meet a powerful woman who doesn’t play about her fitness, maybe even the future Mrs. Right… this gym is 97% women. Do with that what you will.

Just remember — if you meet her at Flexy and y’all end up tying the knot, invite your boy Tjuan to the wedding. I’ll be there for the love… and the free food.
