The Power of Connection:
The way it started must’ve came off as a super funny story for my son. Oh how he must’ve been so embarrassed haha.
MOM perspective : I had a appointment with a good friend who is a trainer and we met a popular local gym. We get about 20 minutes in our workout and I’m in full gear. Lifting heavy weight at this point, and yelling at the peak of every rep. “WORK…”YIKES”.. “WHEW!”. It’s my way of getting into frequency. However, that day it performed more like a call sound because somehow, moments later, my son is standing right in front of me! Wide eyed, and in shock because his mom is crushing a workout like he’s never seen before (Or at least that’s what I thought he was looking that way for).
SON perspective : It’s a classic Friday night, and I head to my normal gym to get in yet another workout. It’s a lively gym, so I’m used to a lot of people moving and making whatever awkward sounds that make them feel mighty. I get situated and get into my first workout when I keep hearing this overly powering sound from a women somewhere in the sweat shop. My first thought is: who is that!? Sheesus!
“WORRRK”… “YIKES”. I’m thinking to my self “bruh whoever mom that is, is doing the most”. I tune it out hoping it would cease, attempt to continue my set when next I hear a unnecessary “WHEW!”.. I’m like : “Ok, who in the world is this?” I decide walk around the leg station to take a peak, and I see this women who looks so familiar… In my head I’m like “you got to be kidding me”. I take a closer look, and low and behold.. well you know the rest.

Apparently I looked shocked, and I certainly was, but it was more embarrassment at the moment lol. Looking back I’m proud that my mom was beasting, but at the moment I was definitely trying to hide my face.
We didn’t know it then, but that first Friday was the start of something special. We decided to workout together that day, and it later would turn into a sacred tradition—our weekly mother-son workout session.
Over time, it became non-negotiable. No matter how busy we were, every Friday, we carved out that time. It became more than exercise; it was our time to bond, reset, and reconnect. It wasn’t just about getting stronger physically, but also mentally and emotionally. Our conversations got deeper, our trust grew stronger, and our connection as a family transformed. Now we have even included a Saturday Morning workout, which has an even more interesting story to how that started, that we not only do ourselves, but invite others to join!
